5 Reasons to Pray to the Virgin Mary Daily

As Catholics we pray to Our Lady not just because she is chosen mother of Christ, but also a model of absolute faith and devotion.

As the mother of Jesus, she has a unique bond with God, and she is able to intercede on our behalf to help us receive the graces we need. By praying to Mary, we are able to tap into her powerful connection to God, and ask for her help in our lives.

“The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective” – James 5:16.

With this in mind, why should we pray to the virgin mother daily, and what can we ask in our prayers?

5 Reasons To Pray to Virgin Mary Daily

1. To Strengthen Our Faith

The first person who believed in Jesus as the Messiah was none other than Mary, who received the divine message from the angel Gabriel.

Mary knew that hardships were sure to come, but she placed her faith in the Lord’s providence and accepted the words of the angel to the fullest extent.

We look to Mary as a model of absolute faith and pray for her guidance to help guide our thoughts and draw our hearts closer to God. As a mother, she understands the troubles that we as humans go through on a day to day basis.

Despite all challenges situations and setbacks that we have faced, her graces will see us through and bring us closer to God the Father.

2. Her Divine Connection To Miracles

Throughout history, there have been many stories and legends of Mary performing miracles and interceding on behalf of those who pray to her. These stories have helped to reinforce her connection to miracles, and have led to her being revered as a powerful intercessor and protector.

Through all her numerous apparitions and miracles granted, we believe that Mary has the power of intervention in our lives and to grant miracles that are in line with God’s will. We turn to the Holy Mother in times of difficulty asking for her help & graces to receive miracles in our lives.

As the mother of Christ, she is most powerful intercessor and most closely connected to us because of her mortal origins. It is without a doubt that she is a symbol of hope, comfort, and protection for millions of Christians around the world.

3. She Offers Protection

The virgin Mary is a mother herself, and just like any other mother, she has the motherly instinct to protect her children. Not only can she pray for our protection against harm but also against temptations and the works of the enemy.

For it is written in God’s word in Genesis 3:15 that the woman (Mary, the mother of our lord Jesus Christ) will crush the head of the serpent.

Having been victorious in crushing the serpents’ head by giving birth to our lord Jesus Christ, the door to everlasting life has been opened to us. So, if you ever need protection from anything, especially from the works of the enemy, never be afraid to ask for Mary’s divine intercession.

4. She Draws Us Closer to God

There are plenty of times that we are led astray whenever we follow the ways of this world. We find ourselves venturing into the path of wickedness, immorality, addiction, and many other sins.

We all know that the only way out of these sins and from the ways of this world is through Jesus Christ who is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).

By following Mary’s example and praying to her for her intercession, we are able to draw closer to God and receive the graces and blessings that we need to deepen our relationship with Him.

Mary’s connection to God allows her to help us to better understand Him and to receive the guidance and protection we need to live a more fulfilling life.

5. For Comfort & Peace

Nothing could be more heartbreaking than for a mother to see her child torture to death in front of her. This was the agony of Mary during Christ’s passion on the cross, but in spite of bearing all the hurt & pain, she was ultimately at peace with God for she carried unwavering hope in His promises.

Instead of becoming resentful and hateful because of what happened to her son, she found comfort in the Lord and trusted his ways.

When we pray to Mary, we also ask for her grace to comfort & shelter us in times of great sadness or calamity. There are unspeakable sufferings that we have endured which cause us much pain, agony, anger, grief, and sorrow.

Whilst it seems like no else is able to relate or understand, we know that our divine mother knows the pain that is in our heart. We need only to call upon her intercession and place our faith in the Lord who comforts us.

“The Lord is Near! Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation with prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. And the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

– Philippians 4:6

The Virgin Mary draws us closer to God because of her close relationship with Him, her unwavering faith, and her devotion to Him. Her example serves as a source of inspiration for us and helps us to deepen our own relationship with God.

Through her intercession and guidance, we can receive the graces and blessings that we need to live a more fulfilling life.
